Nigeria Seeks Cooperation Of African Countries To End Poverty

Nigeria has called on other African countries to come together as a region to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.

Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, Minister of state for Industry, Trade and Investment,  made the call in her presentation at  the just concluded 2017 edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a statement by her media office, the Nigeria’s presentation also stressed the critical role of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in resuscitating economics of countries of the continent to a path of sustainable and inclusive growth.

The minister, highlighted the efforts the current administration in making towards the development of an MSME index and ratings with the support of the African Development Bank (ADB) as well as the action plan the government has developed for the National Enterprises Development Programme (NEDEP).

The minister’s reports highlighted the Buhari’s administration’s commitment to the creation of Global Entrepreneurship Network Nigeria (GEN Nigeria) and GEN Africa Plus, towards the advancement of global entrepreneurship economic system, “that will lead to innovation, job creation and strengthening” of Nigerian and African economies.

Hajiya Aisha announced that a Memorandum of Understating, MoU, is being worked out between Nigeria and South Africa to accelerate innovation, and strengthen economic stability towards advancing the course of entrepreneurship amongst the two countries.
