
Chief Adebayo Adelabu, a Deputy Governor of Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN), has assured the benefiting public
secondary schools in Nigeria that the N500 million intervention fund by
the Bank is ready for the commencement of infrastructural development of
these schools by the end of second quarter of this year.
Adelabu who was recently appointed as
Chairman of the School Governing Board of the Lagelu Grammar School, his
Alma Mata by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state made this disclosure
during the election and swearing-in of the newly executives of the
Lagelu Grammar School Old Boys Association (LAGSOBA).
A professor of urban and regional
planning in Obafemi Awolowo University, Olufemi Omisore was elected as
the new president of the body. Dr. Bayo Windapo and Dr. Duro Ogunsesan
are the Deputy National President 1&2 respectively while Comrade
Wale Adeoye was elected as Secretary General.
Describing his appointment as the Chairman of the school board as a task that must be accomplished, Adelabu said the absence of the board of the CBN was the reason for the delay in carrying out the projects which Lagelu Grammar School was also a beneficiary.
Pledging to turn the fortune of the
school around for the better, Adelabu said works would soon commence on a
story building which will house the board room, Chairman’s office,
principal’s office, Vice Principal’s offices and a befitting computer
centre, as efforts to remodel the school takes-off in earnest.
He tasked all the well meaning Old Boys
of the school to make a success of the new challenge to create an
atmosphere conducive for impactful and productive learning environment,
Adelabu also enjoined all LAGSOBA members to ensure academic excellence
of the school in a conducive classrooms, functional library, Science
laboratory.
