An artist manager, who did not want to be named as he works close to A-Reece, said the pair called it quits when they stopped having time to see each other.
"A-Reece really wanted a future with this girl. He always told us how she was focused and hard-working but their schedules were forever clashing.
"At first they tried to make time for each other. I don't know what went wrong. There was a time when Natasha had a lot of shoots and could not make time for the relationship. This year, things got worse. They did not even get to spend Valentine's Day together. They broke up at the beginning of January," said the source.
When contacted for comment, A-Reece, real name Lehlogonolo Mataboge, said he was busy and would be able to talk after 30 minutes.
Thahane, who is the granddaughter of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, could not be reached for comment.
The young actress, who plays Amo in Mzansi Magic's The Queen, hooked up with A-Reece after she allegedly turned down another rapper, Sjava, last year.
Following the parting of ways, A-Reece changed his profile picture on his Twitter account to that of TV personality Boity Thulo.
The industry source said: "I don't think that he could be dating Boity, it might be just a crush."
Thahane and A-Reece met while he was recording his music video last year.
While they never spoke about their relationship openly, Thahane always posted intimate pictures of them together.
