(i) Matt 27:45-54:- It was the Jerusalem that work of the salvation was consummated on the Cross. On one occasion, while the Lord was eating with His Apostle, He gave them this command; Dot leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised .." (Acts 1:4) .
(ii) Acts. (2:1-5) It was the Jerusalem that the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles to empower them to preach.
(iii) Acts. 1: 14-26:- It was in the Jerusalem Mathias was elected to replace Apostle Judas Iscariot.
(iv) Acts. 8:14-17:- When the Apostle in the Jerusalem heard that the Samaria had accepted the word of God; they sent Peter and John to receive them formally into the church.
(v) Acts 15:1-5:- When some Christians from Antioch confronted Paul and Barnabas concerning the admission of the Gentiles into the Church, Paul and Barnabas were appointed along with other believers to go up to the Jerusalem to see Apostles and elders concerning the issue,
(vi) Acts. 15:6-21:- The Apostle convoked the first general council of the Church in the Jerusalem where the decided that Circumcision is not necessary for salvation.
(vii) Acts. 15:22-35:- It was also in the Jerusalem that the Apostles together issued the first Apostolic letter and pointed the first Apostolic envoys to carry the later to the Gentiles.
(viii) Gal.1:8:- After preaching for three years, the Apostle Paul had to journey to the Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter.
(ix) Gal 2:1-2:- After the four years, St, Paul took with him Titus and travelled to Jerusalem to lay before the Apostles the gospel that he was preaching to the Gentils so that all his efforts might not be in vain.
(x) LK.:24:- The Church must preach repentance and forgiveness to the whole world beginning at Jerusalem.
As the result of schisms and the destruction of the Jerusalem in 70AD, what remained of status of the Jerusalem Church came to lie in ruins. By then attention has shifted to Rome.
