The Electoral Commission (EC) last Thursday began the limited registration exercise to allow Ghanaians who had attained the voting age and those who qualified but could not register to vote in the last general election to register with the EC to enable them to vote in the upcoming election.
President Mahama advised students who had attained the voting age to register at centres close to their schools.
According to him, it would enable them to cast their votes on November 7 without travelling home as the election would be held at the time they were in school.
At separate ceremonies in Sunyani and Berekum last Thursday as part of his “Accounting to the people” tour of the Brong Ahafo Region, the President said it was important that every qualified person exercised his or her franchise in the election.
In Sunyani, the President inaugurated a Hospitality, Catering and Institutional Management (HCIM) building for the Sunyani Polytechnic, while at Berekum, he paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene, Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo.
The complex for Sunyani Polytechnic has laboratories, workshops, changing rooms and demonstration rooms among other facilities.
The building, whose construction started in 2004, was abandoned by the contractor.Source: Peacefmonline
