FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup: Falconets draw Spain, Japan, Canada

FalconetsNIGERIA’S U-20 Women’s team, Falconets, was yesterday handed an intriguing draw for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Papua, New Guinea.
At the event held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Falconets seeded for the draws were paired alongside Spain, Japan and Canada in Group B.
While, Spain and Canada pose as trickish opponents for the Silver winning Nigerian team, Japan on the other hand would be a familiar foes for the Coach Peter  Dedevbo led team , having met with the Asians at the Germany 2010 edition where Falconets defeated them with 2-1 in the group stage.
Ghana, another African flag bearer to the tournament, found themselves in Group C with France, USA and New Zealand.
Defending champions, Germany is in Group D with Venezuela, Mexico and Korea Republic, while host, Papua New Guinea was thrown into the fray with Brazil, Sweden and Korea DPR in Group A.
This would be the eighth edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup an  will take place in Papua New Guinea between 13 November and 3 December 2016.
Meanwhile, Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi is expected to hit the senior national women’s team Abuja camp by Sunday. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had on February 16, 2016 , appointed the former Falcons captain as assistant coach to a yet to be named expatriate together with her former teammates, Perpetua Nkwocha and Ann Agumanu-Chiejine. Omagbemi was, however, asked to take charge of the team in an interim capacity.
